Capsule Geology

The Glimmer property is predominantly underlain by Devonian andesitic metavolcanics of the Stikine Assemblage and fine to medium grained, foliated diorite.

Geological mapping on the Glimmer 2 claim identified the presence of a north-south trending alteration zone transecting the property. The healed fault zone cuts metavolcanics and igneous rocks and varies from less than a metre to over 100 metres wide. The fault zone consists of subparallel zones of quartz-sericite-pyrite and carbonate alteration that flank an area of intense silicification which carries up to 10 per cent disseminated pyrite.

Other than a 30-centimeter-wide chalcopyrite vein located peripheral to the main alteration zone, no mineralization of significance was noted. Selected grab samples from this vein assayed 17.0 per cent copper and 124 grams per tonne silver and 0.7 gram per tonne gold (Assessment Report 21016).

In 1990, Homestake Mining Canada Ltd completed a program consisting of geological mapping, rock (24 samples) and soil sampling on the Glimmer 2 claim.

In 1990, Glendale Resources Inc. and Athabaska Gold Resources Ltd conducted prospecting and sampling on their FK 2 and FK 2A mineral claims, which appear to cover the same area as Homestake’s Glimmer claim (Assessment Report 21140).
